Yellow Behind Black compresses the colour, movement and visual density of New York into a single street-level moment.
A dark Lincoln Town Car fills the foreground while the unmistakable yellow of the city appears behind it. Reflections, brake lights, road markings and traffic turn an ordinary journey through Manhattan into a layered study of urban colour and movement.
The contrast between black and yellow gives the photograph a bold, graphic quality while keeping the scene unmistakably rooted in everyday New York.
Part of New York in Layers, a photographic collection by Brightpuddle Editions looking beyond the city’s landmarks to its streets, architecture, traffic and fleeting human moments.
